About 8flowy

Hi, I'm the person who builds 8flowy. I made it because pipe puzzles scratch an itch nothing else quite reaches: they're logic you can feel. There's the thinking (which way must the red pipe bend?) and then the moment the whole network clicks and your finger just glides the last color home. 8flowy exists to serve both halves, and it's built on one promise: every board is fair.

What 8flowy is

8flowy is a Flow-style connect-the-dots puzzle, the genre often called numberlink. You get a grid scattered with pairs of colored dots, and you drag a pipe from each dot to its matching partner. Pipes can't cross or overlap, and when you're done every square of the grid must be covered by a pipe. That's the whole rulebook. The philosophy

I have three rules for myself about what makes it into the game:

Unique. Every puzzle has exactly one solution. You're never left wondering whether the network you found was "the" network. If everything connects and nothing's empty, it's the answer.
Honest. The dots you see are always enough to determine every pipe. There is no reading the designer's mind, no ambiguity to shrug at.
Kind to mistakes. Drawing is exploration. Dragging back rewinds a pipe, drawing across a wrong pipe simply cuts it, and the board can never enter an illegal state — so experimenting is always safe.

If two different pipe networks could both finish a board, that board never ships. Every 8flowy puzzle is machine-checked to have exactly one solution before you ever see it.

The promise behind every board

Every board holds to one standard: it has exactly one solution, the dots on it are always enough to find that solution by reasoning, and a harder rating means fewer signposts, never a fuzzier answer. Difficulty comes from things you can see on the board itself — fewer pairs mean longer, less-guided pipes; bigger grids mean more of everything. Hints that respect you

When you ask for a hint, 8flowy doesn't hand-wave. It finds the first color whose pipe has gone wrong, clears it, and draws that one pipe correctly — cutting through your mistakes exactly the way a finger would. You see which route you'd misjudged, which is worth far more than a finished picture.

Made to be played anywhere

8flowy runs in the browser on anything (phone, tablet, laptop), installs to your home screen as an app, and works in light or dark theme. There's a shared daily puzzle with a public leaderboard, a Journey of 200 levels from gentle 5×5 boards to monstrous 10×10 networks, and unlimited free play whenever you want one more board.
